Top 5 plastic surgery procedures in 2010

Plastic surgery has been on the upswing according to American Society of Plastic Surgeons data. Comparing 2010 to 2009, plastic surgery procedures have become more popular. In the United States, more than thirteen million cosmetic surgery procedures were performed in 2010, a 5 percent rise over 2009. #1: Breast augmentation. Unsurprisingly, breast augmentation ranked as the top cosmetic procedure performed in 2010. The procedure was performed by more than 295,000 people, which is an increase of 2% over 2009. The goal is to adjust and refine a person’s nasal shape. In 2010, this procedure was requested by more than 250.000 people. ASPS points out that more and more males are choosing cosmetic nose surgery. In fact, 25 per cent of nose reshaping operations were performed on male patients. This result is consistent with an overall trend that shows more male patients are opting for cosmetic treatments. These include Botox and chemical peels as well as facelifts.

#3: Surgery of the Eyelids. In 2010, eyelid lifting surgery was the most popular treatment. During this procedure, excess skin or fat is removed. Many of these patients are retired and therefore more financially secure than many others. They may seek cosmetic surgery in order to reduce the visible signs of aging.
